Dr. Maria Atkinson is a dedicated Internal Medicine physician with over 32 years of experience. She earned her medical degree from Cebu Doctors’ University in the Philippines and completed her residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Inspired by her father’s illness, she pursued medicine as a way to help others live healthier, longer lives. With a philosophy rooted in compassion and respect, Dr. Atkinson treats each patient like family—offering guidance, presenting options, and honoring their decisions. She places a strong emphasis on lifestyle modifications, preventive screenings, vaccinations, and taking medications as prescribed to improve quality of life and reduce the risk of disease. A proud Ocala resident, Dr. Atkinson is actively involved in the community—attending local events, supporting fundraisers, and proudly patronizing local businesses. She is honored to serve the Ocala community and is committed to continuing her mission of helping others live their healthiest lives. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, baking, cooking, singing, dancing, and spending quality time with her family.
