About Me
Dr. Aracelia Bernier is a board-certified family medicine and bariatric medicine physician with more than 30 years of patient care experience. She earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. Dr. Bernier’s journey into medicine was shaped by her determination to overcome poverty and her deep desire to help those in need. She believes strongly in the biopsychosocial model of care—treating patients as whole people, not just a collection of symptoms. Each patient, she says, is unique, shaped by their background, experiences, and circumstances, and deserves care that reflects that individuality. At the heart of her practice is respect. Dr. Bernier prioritizes listening to her patients’ voices, ensuring they understand what is happening with their health, and taking the time to move at a pace that feels right for them. She values education and collaborative decision-making, working closely with patients to create care plans that truly support their lives and goals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring downtown Panama City, and visiting local favorites like History Brew, The Weirdo, and Havana. She also enjoys long walks, biking, swimming, and salsa dancing.
